Shades of Grey

The solo exhibition SHADES OF GREY traces a timeline through Christian Coigny’s illustrious 30-year career, embracing his steadfast devotion to analogue photography as he captures the elegance and character of his subjects. Renowned for his delicate, reverential treatment of figures, landscapes, and still-life compositions, Coigny has immortalised icons from the world of art and performance with his signature graceful style. His work includes collaborations with brands such as Hermès, Hublot, and Chopard, as well as acclaimed campaigns like Vitra’s ‘Celebrities’ series.

Coigny sees photography as a tactile, unaltered art form that thrives in the darkroom, where he brings his vision to life. His ability to capture pure, unretouched moments has earned him the admiration of many, with long-time collaborators and collectors cherishing his work. The artist himself states, ‘I have always used film. I like the darkroom, the physical contact with my work. I like to know that people see a photo that has not been altered in any way, showing exactly what I saw.’
