Jiajia Zhang - A Film In Two Parts, The Second Of Which Never Ends

Jiajia Zhang works with photography and video, more recently she also develops sculptural installations. For her solo show at Istituto Svizzero she creates an expansive installation that transforms the exhibition space into a place where private, even intimate and public spheres overlap. The artist is interested in the standardizing structures that shape us in these spaces: Be it the bollard-like concrete elements that guide our movements in public space – and which appear in A Film In Two Parts, The Second Of Which Never Ends as a kind of ready-mades – or standardized processes when learning a foreign language – which we encounter in Jiajia’s new video work.
